About Dr. Harvey Karp
Dr. Karp has been a pediatrician for 30 years. His landmark books and DVDs, The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block, have revolutionized our culture's understanding of the needs of babies and young children. No wonder he is the most read pediatrician in America today. Dr. Karp's discovery of the "calming reflex" (an off-switch for crying) has been endorsed by America's top baby specialists like the former Surgeon General and leaders of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is being taught in hospitals across the country and around the world. His discovery of a new way of eliminating 50-90% of tantrums and raising more patient and respectful toddlers is redefining the way we communicate with young children. Dr. Karp is an assistant professor of pediatrics at UCLA. He is also an expert on children's health and the environment and on breastfeeding.
