Q: I feel as if I'm always the one talking the whole time when I go out on dates. How do I get my date to talk more about himself?
A: When you're talking too much on dates, you may not realize it, but you may feel nervous or insecure, which causes you to talk too much. You're probably approaching a date like an audition. You really have to remember that it's a conversation. On a date, you really want to learn something about the other person.

More Tips And Advice from AOL Coaches
Getting someone to talk starts by focusing less on what you have to say, and taking a genuine interest in the person, and asking questions. Relax, calm down, take a deep breathe and know that you don't have to wow this person, you don't have to impress them, and you can be quiet and ask questions and hear what they have to say.
If all the person's answers are one-word or two-word answers and you find yourself in a lot of silence, that might be a good indication that there are bigger communication issues, and you might not be hitting it off with the person.
It's important to feel comfortable, to feel that you have a free and easy rapport with the other person. If you are having problems getting anything out of a person, it could be a sign of their discomfort and awkwardness, it could be a sign of lack of interest, but ultimately having a great conversational flow and having a strong rapport with somebody is the essence of a great relationship.
If you're giving your best to make somebody feel comfortable, if you are asking about them and have a genuine interest in learning, there's no reason why that person shouldn't open up and respond.
